At his 4 month well baby checkup, the pediatrician recommended that I wait until Owen is 6 months old to start solid foods since he is thriving so well on nursing alone. Seeing as how he will be 6 months old in less than 2 weeks (how did that happen!), and he is very interested in what we are doing when we eat, we decided to introduce him to some delicious rice cereal.
At first he didn't know what to think, but the next day he was excited to see the spoon and ate every bite! Go to our Shutterfly page to see the video.
I have to admit that part of the reason we started him on the cereal was a desperate attempt to get him to sleep a little longer through the night. He spoiled me from 8 weeks until about a month ago by only waking once a night to eat. Then I thought it was a growth spurt that he was up twice a night to eat, but he is still waking two and sometimes three times to eat. And so far the rice cereal is not helping. When he is feeling better next week I am going to start trying to wean him from the night feedings - which I'm sure is going to involve some crying from Owen and probably from me as well. But that is better than a sleep deprived mom that is on the verge insanity. Okay, so maybe it's not that bad...but a full nights sleep sounds like heaven to me right now.

Good luck Angela! The night wakings are BRUTAL I know. Diana still wakes up at night and she's 15 months! that's not normal tho (I don't think), so don't worry. Loved looking at the beautiful pictures and stories. Gorgeous little guy you have. Lots of love, Maria LaCalle
Thanks Maria! I know it's a phase, but not knowing how long it will last is the hard part - if only there was a date to look forward to! Diana is adorable and growing so fast. Those little blond curls are irresistible!
